Paul and I worked together for 6 - 7 years on several aspects of vaccinations in stem cell transplant recipients. A lot of this was remote but I had the pleasure of meeting him several times, including when we both were working in the Public Health England laboratories. My lasting memory of him is how warm, gentle, kind and considerate he always was. He approached everything he did with dedication, pragmatism and intellect. The COVID-19 pandemic threw us together again to address a big knowledge gap in how best to protect stem cell transplant recipients through vaccination. Paul worked tirelessly on guidelines for this patient group that has undoubtedly served the community hugely and will continue to do so for many years to come. I will miss him terribly as a person and colleague. We will honour his memory and the work he did in every way possible. My thoughts are with Lukxmi and his family.
