I worked closely with Paul for several years and while he was an excellent doctor and scientist (and he really was), it is the conversations we had about all things massive and tiny that I will most remember. Like the time we started talking about coffee brewing techniques and were found an hour later by colleagues who were completely bemused that we still had more to say! He was always so genuinely interested in the small details, which is probably what made him both so good at research and also such a great listener. He was really supportive when we were on parental leave at the same time and I am forever indebted to him for teaching me about baby sleep cycles! It was such a pleasure to know him.
